Five separate building additions and over 43,000 square feet of renovation were required in this total update to a historic 1908 Tudor clubhouse. Set in leafy Audubon Park, Louisville’s first streetcar suburb, the club had modern hospitality needs and no such facilities to satisfy their members. Accessibility for the handicapped, security, member and guest circulation currents, kitchen / serving / dishwashing procedures, and the ability to handle large banquets while simultaneously operating member facilities were all examined and solutions were provided. The lower level of the clubhouse was also completely overhauled and facilities for both men and women were lifted to equal levels. Rich mahogany lockers, up lit drywall ceilings with intricate stained wood trim designs, and creative ceramic tile patterns give the natural-light deprived spaces warm elegance.
